Nagarik Swasthya Sangh (NSS) is an NGO that was established by a group of scouts in the year 1951 with the main object of initiating, performing, and completing all such social and cultural activities that work for the betterment of the present or future which will also be useful to the public health environments.

One of the major Units of NSS is SANGH NETRALAYA located in the heart of the City of Joy (Kolkata) takes initiatives to benefit needy and poor people in our society to overcome blindness due to Cataracts which occurs after a certain period of age of a human being. This Unit organizes Eye Testing as well as Eye Operation Camps for FREE for the poor and needy people. This service benefits the Society by the means of health of the eye as well as financially to poor people. Other than this Unit, NSS also undertakes Skill Development of Women in order to add their participation in Women Empowerment, this Skills the girls and women in the context of cooking, baking, music, dance, mehendi, stitching, and fashion designing at very nominal charges.

This Organisation runs with the help of Donations from Corporate Entities for which the Donor gets benefit in Tax Exemption. Donations made are exempted u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961 and u/s 135 of the Companies Act, 2013 as well as CSR certificate enlisted.

Free Eye Operation and Treatment Camp

NSS conducts free eye check-up and cataract operation camps, benefiting over 82,500 patients and offering boarding, food, lodging, and spectacles, with a mission to eradicate blindness among those who cannot afford eye surgeries.

Vastu Bhandar

Providing essential items like beds, pillows, and utensils for health programs and medical camps, NSS supports the community’s well-being.

Baby Clinic

NSS operates a baby clinic, offering vaccinations and raising awareness about child health through Healthy Baby Shows and Child Health Camps.

Sangh Netralaya (Eye Hospital)

NSS’s fully-equipped eye hospital in Kolkata provides advanced eye care services, including lens transplants and glaucoma treatments, and strives to make high-end eye care affordable for all.

Water Services (Sangh Ganga)

NSS caters to water needs during events and functions, ensuring a steady supply of water as per the community’s requirements.

First Aid Camp

NSS organizes first aid and medical aid camps at cultural events and disaster-stricken areas, prioritizing the well-being of the community as needed.

Sangh Shree (Women's Wing)

Empowering women since 1975 through vocational training in various skills, NSS’s Ladies Wing fosters self-reliance and job opportunities, promoting confidence and independence.
